We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the role of Project Officer with Dementia Training Australia (DTA).
DTA has been identified by the Department of Health and Aged Care (DoHAC) as having national responsibility for improving the knowledge and skills of the health and aged care workforce in supporting and caring for people living with dementia. The goal of the National Dementia Training program is to build capacity in a broad range of health and community staff, First responders and volunteer groups. To provide evidence-based care and support in a person-centred approach.

Description
As a Project Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting DTA’s mission in the development, management, and delivery of a key project aimed at improving dementia care across regional, rural, and remote communities and towns. You will be tasked with identifying and implementing health strategies to support health workers caring for people living with dementia, with a particular focus on Indigenous health workers, CALD communities, allied health professionals, residential aged care staff, community care providers, and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage project scoping, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management.
- Coordinate workshops and events to facilitate knowledge exchange and skill development.
- Ensure timely delivery of project milestones within budget constraints.
- Act as a liaison between DTA and the community, fostering strong relationships.
- Provide support to Dementia Training Australia’s Dementia Training Advisory Group.
Requirements
Essential:
- A combination of relevant education/training and experience including post qualification/training experience in relevant position/s
- Demonstrable experience working across regional, remote and rural health networks.
- Demonstrated existing relationships to facilitate suitable community identification and liaison.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
- Experience in prioritising competing demands across several projects, with the ability to remain flexible and responsive.
Desirable:
- Be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.
- Demonstrated knowledge in project management skills and the development, continuous improvement and implementation of project management.
- A sound understanding of the health and aged care sector, in particularly around workforce knowledge and skills to support people living with dementia.
- Experience working within a university would be highly desirable.
